How it works

Three small steps,
once a day.

It takes about a minute. No perfect nails required, just a hand and some light.

  1. The back of a hand with fingers spread, photographed from above on a plain background

Scan your left and right hand

Lay each hand flat, back of the hand up, fingers spread. A guide helps you frame it the same way each time.

  2. L2Index: edges look a little uneven. A quick file tonight may help.
R1Thumb: cuticle looks dry. Try a balm before bed.
Example feedback. Yours depends on your photos.

    Get an honest grade

Each scan gets a nail score out of 100 and specific notes, nail by nail. If a photo isn’t clear enough to judge, it tells you instead of guessing.

  3. Illustrative photo: the back of a hand with short, bitten-looking nailsIllustrative photo: the same pose weeks later, with longer, smoother-looking nails

    Watch each nail over time

Every scan joins a timeline for each finger. Look back whenever change feels slow. Illustrative photos; your pace will vary.

Inside the app

Everything you need to
see your own progress.

Your own stop-motion time-lapse

After four scans, SnapNailZ strings your photos together into a short stop-motion of a nail changing over time. It grows with every scan you add, and you can save it or share it.

A timeline for every nail

Each scan is cut into close-ups, so you can follow one nail on its own, from the first photo to today.

Nail-by-nail before and after

Pick two days and compare the same nail side by side. When photos are too different to compare, the app says so.

Moments and a plan for urges

Log when an urge shows up and what was going on. Choose what you will do instead next time.

Gentle reminders

A daily nudge at a time you choose. Tap it and the camera opens, ready for today’s scan.

Screen stays awake

While you line up your hand, the screen won’t dim or lock on you.

Questions

Before your first scan.

What does SnapNailZ help me do?

Keep a photo journal of your nails. Scan the back of each hand, get an honest grade with specific feedback, follow every nail on its own timeline, and make a small plan for the moments you tend to bite or pick.

Can a photo tell whether I bit my nails?

No. Photos show appearance, not behaviour. Lighting, angle, trimming and polish can all change what a photo shows. SnapNailZ uses your own reports alongside usable photo evidence, and tells you when a comparison is uncertain.

What happens if I bite again?

Your history stays. Log the moment if you want, notice what was happening, and return to your plan. One difficult moment does not erase the effort that came before it.

Is SnapNailZ free?

Every feature is free during the public beta. If paid plans become available later, prices and renewal terms will be shown before you choose to purchase. You will not be charged automatically just because you used the beta.

What happens to my nail photos?

Your journal is stored on your device. Scans are sent to Google through Firebase AI Logic for grading; photo comparisons use our analysis service. During the public beta, scanned photos may also be retained for up to 24 months to test and train the nail analysis, without your name or an account. The app shows a photo code you can quote to ask us to delete them. See our privacy policy and data-deletion page for details.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed. Your journal lives on your device, so do not assume it will sync to another phone. Device backups may include app data according to your system settings.

Is this medical advice?

No. SnapNailZ is a personal habit journal, not a medical device, diagnosis or treatment. It cannot confirm recovery or measure exact nail growth. For pain, swelling, injury or concerns about your nails or skin, contact a qualified clinician.
